Fundraising Events 2005

23rd September 2005 - An Evening of light Entertainment by Capriccio

Autumn heralded the annual Merseyside UBS fundraiser at the magnificent offices of MBNA Europe Bank in Chester. Capriccio performed songs to suit all tastes from their wide ranging repertoire. This ensemble choir gave a spectacular show in front of 100 supporters of UBS, which included our President The Earl of Yarborough, the Mayor of Wirral Counselor Chris Meadon and Consort. A delicious buffet supper and raffle completed a delightful evening's entertainment in stunning surroundings. UBS would like to thank everyone involved in making the evening such a success.

Tickets cost £15.00

24th October 2005 - Evening Reception, The Fleming Collection, London

We were delighted to welcome supporters and guests alike once again to our annual evening reception at the Fleming Collection. A full-house was able to enjoy a wine and canapé reception whilst enjoying a private viewing of the current exhibition of the ‘Life and Times of Bonnie Prince Charlie’ along with an informative talk from Selina Skipwith, the Keeper of Art at the collection.

The pieces on display all came from the renowned Drambuie Collection of Jacobite Art, which consists of over 100 works including engraved glassware, grand court portraits, silver and gold medals and ceramics. The exhibition has been touring America and thanks to the Fleming Collection, our guests were able to enjoy the only UK viewing of these rare works.

This event is one of the highlights of our calendar and we would be honoured to welcome one and all to enjoy the 2006 exhibition with us later this year, the details of which will be confirmed in the coming months. For more information about this or future events, please contact Michael McGrath or call UBS on 0207 605 4200.

15th June 2005 - The Summer Party, Chelsea Physic Garden in London

Following our inaugural national summer party, which was held in 2004, once again our President, the Earl of Yarborough, hosted the evening to the enjoyment of more than 150 guests.

Everyone was treated to a private viewing of this beautiful secluded garden in the heart of London whilst enjoying a champagne reception accompanied by a jazz quartet from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

The event provided an opportunity for our dear supporters to meet our staff and volunteers and to learn a little more about the work we do and the many older people we reach out to across the country. It enabled us also to meet in person some of the many compassionate and generous people that support our vital work.

6th January 2005 - Merseyside belated beneficiary Christmas party – St. Anthony of Padua Church Hall

In January our newly appointed Regional Development Officer on Merseyside, Mrs. Siân Burgess, welcomed 98 of our beneficiaries to enjoy a Christmas gathering in Mossley Hill, Liverpool.

'Company B' ready to entertain guests

Beneficiaries and volunteers alike were treated to an afternoon of entertainment from “Company B” with their songs from the 40’s & 50’s. The band were fantastic and have agreed to help us again in future and even donated their fee to UBS!

There was bingo, a raffle and a ‘bring and buy’ sale for the attendees to enjoy.  Local school children from Liverpool College joined a group of volunteer drivers that made the whole day run as smoothly as possible and we were so grateful for their hard work and dedication.

Pastoral Care and friendship is one of our principal activities.  We welcome the chance to make our beneficiaries feel part of our UBS family and it is lovely to see them thoroughly enjoying an afternoon out together.  As you can see from the photographs, such events are a great chance to break down everyday isolation and make our beneficiaries happy.

Fundraising Events 2004

During the summer and early autumn months of 2004 we held three events for the sole benefit of UBS.  They were all highly successful in raising much needed funds for the charity whist not only providing existing supporters the chance to meet once again, but also to attract some essential new supporters.

Flemings – Monday 18th October 2004

Later that month saw another successful evening with a private viewing of the Anne Redpath & Edinburgh School exhibition at Fleming’s art gallery in central London.  There was a wine and canapés reception along with an informative talk about the history of the collection and its artists by the Keeper of Art, Selina Skipwith.

MBNA – Friday 1st October 2004

Michael McGrath and Debbie Kehoe

In October the bank, MBNA, kindly allowed our Merseyside Development Officer, Debbie Kehoe to stage an evening of entertainment at the bank’s European Headquarters in Chester.  The evening involved superb wine and buffet reception and splendid renditions of many “Songs from the Shows” by the Birkenhead Operatic Society.

Summer Pary at the Chelsea Physic Garden, London - 9th June 2004

Guests enjoying the Chelsea Physic Garden

The President of UBS, The Earl of Yarborough, played host to 300 guests on a beautiful summer's evening in the Chelsea Physic Garden on 9th June.  They enjoyed champagne and canapes provided by Party Ingredients and were entertained by a jazz trio from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
