We employ just two full-time members of staff, the UBS Manager and our Regional Development Officer on Merseyside, where we have a large concentration of beneficiaries. In addition we have three further part-time Regional Development Officers based in Glasgow, London and on Tyneside where there are significant levels of pensioner poverty. In order to achieve our ambitions and develop the long-term strategy of reaching as many needy people as possible, it is essential for us to increase this network of regional representation whilst striving to keep costs to a minimum.
Our Regional Development Officers work hard in their local communities, which are in parts of the country where the need is greatest. They concentrate their efforts to enable UBS to; increase beneficiary numbers; develop our pastoral volunteer network; and raise our profile and funds locally. We can only employ further officers when sufficient funding is secured. We would also dearly love to have such officers placed in the Midlands, South Wales and Greater Manchester in future.
